Developing Modern Land Use Policy Tools - Alberta Land Use Planning Jurisdictional Review
The Alberta government identified a need for new policy considerations and tools to help facilitate effective land-use planning. They asked our team to identify land use policy alternatives and undertake a multi-jurisdictional review of Canada, US and Australian land use management policies.
We designed a research framework guide to aid in the collection of information that would be most relevant to Alberta’s regulatory and land-use framework. We met with and interviewed key land use planning leaders in Australia, the US and Canada to identify policy alternatives.
Our work provided recommendations for improvements to Alberta’s land-use framework based on policy options relevant to Alberta.
