Developing a Housing Forecast and Needs Assessment Model for the Edmonton Capital Region Board
Edmonton’s Capital Region is comprised of 24 municipalities grappling with varying levels of housing affordability, need, supply and housing demand issues. How do these municipalities forecast housing need and plan across jurisdictions to ensure a consistent and balanced approach to housing?
The Capital Region asked our team to develop a Housing Assessment Tool (HAT) that allowed the region, and member municipalities and sub-regions, to forecast and plan for housing need and affordability. The HAT allows the Capital Region to provide an objective and independent analysis using updated CMHC and Statistics Canada data, along with municipal data, to assess housing needs and provide policy options for consideration.
